Things to do at Oahu for a week?

Ronnie Reign asked:

I’m booked at Paradise Cove, going to Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck, Matsumoto’s, Dole Plantation, looking for a good eco tour, visiting Kicks Hawaii / In4mation and staying at Waikiki. What would you recommend doing there?

OOH! We just got back from there a few weeks ago. The Paradise Cove luau is great! We also really liked the Oceanarium Restaurant. They have a 1/4 million gallon fish tank that you sit around while you eat dinner, and they had great food! Hanauma Bay is awesome for snorkeling, even if it’s your first time. The international marketplace is a must see. We stayed at the Kahala resort which is about 15 mins west of Waikiki. They have an AWESOME beach, anyone can rent cabanas for the day where they’ll serve you food out on the water. It is much less busy than Waikiki and much nicer. They also have the dolphin quest where you can swim with the dolphins. You can climb diamond head, go to Pearl Harbor, etc. We rented a car and drove around the island (it only takes 5 hours). The Valley of the temples was pretty cool which is over on the NW side. Also, up on the North Shore there’s the Waimea Valley Audubon Center where you can go swim under a waterfall for only a mile and a half easy hike round trip. Gorgeous!! Have a GREAT time!!

Besides the beautiful beaches, you should check out the Polynesian Cultural Center, Dole Plantation and Pearl Harbor Memorial. Just note: the visit to Pearl harbor can be a real emotional experience, but absolutely worth the visit.
