Has anyone stayed at the Hale Koa?

Debra R asked:

My husband and I are going to Oahu 28Sep06 to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary.

What is there to do for 50 year olds?

Has anyone stayed at the Hale Koa or the Waikiki Shores?
We are staying at both.

Would love any suggestions!

I lived in Waikiki years ago .one thing you should consider the Bed bug infestation.Check your hotel policies . Many years ago i live their for five yrs and loved it . Down town Honolulu will be very expensive The bus go`es around the island and the north shore is beautiful .so many things to see so make the time and enjoy. For great hotels is the MAKAHA INN .

I have stayed at the Hale Koa many times. It is a great place. You will love the hot tub and the pools. The KoKo Cafe is very nice, a good place for breakfast. Love the grits with brown sugar and butter.. coffe is nice. Go for an early morning swim at the beach and then back to the hotel for breakfast and reading the paper. Go see Do Ho… he is still singing! Ride the trolley for a quick view of the area. If you get a car, drive Tantalis drive and end at overlook. Also go to the Punchbowl Memorial Cementary and take a walk to the overlook at the cementary. Be sure to eat dinner at Chuck’s Steakhouse above Dukes right on the beach at Waikiki. If you have a car they do vale and it is pretty cheap or you can stroll from the Hale Koa. Hale Koa gives free hula lessons on Friday morning at 1000. Also fireworks are shot on Friday evenings at around 7:00 from the Hilton Hawaiian Village next door. If you like movies the Theater in Waikiki is very nice and not very crowded. Also go to Victoria Wards Center in Waikiki and eat at Scoozies. Their Split Pea soup with bread and butter balls is wonderful. There is also a nice movie theater across the street. Sit out and have some coffee as you watch the people. Take a walk around magic island at the Alomoa beach park. Have fun.. let me know how things turn out!

    I have. I liked it.

there are museums, and tours of the island, and the beaches –shopping (I like the malls better than anything else.).

There are fireworks every weekend on a small scale (or there was when I was there.).
have a great time! p.s. ask local people you meet for ideas of stuff to do
