Best way to get from airport to hotel in waikiki?

petlover asked:

We didn’t rent a car or reserve any airport pickup service. What is the best and cheapest way to get from the airport to the hotel in the Waikiki area? Bus is out of the question because I hear there are luggage restrictions. Any tips on saving money will be greatly appreciated.

You’d be surprised how easy it is to haggle a taxi driver outside of the airport for a verrry cheap amount…give it a go. Ask how much it is then be reasonable and throw a number at them

What hotel are you staying at? A good number of hotels offer that service for free…

My grandma recently went to Waikiki, when I called the hotel to inquire about transportation I was told the best and most inexpensive route would be to take a shuttle from the airport. I was told the shuttle is about $9 where as a taxi would be $30, when you go outside the airport there is a special shuttle pick up area, that goes to all the hotels. If unsure call your hotel to see what they recommend and if they offer free shuttle pickup.

My husband and I have used Roberts van service several times. The buses are huge. They have lots of room for luggage, and they will stop at all hotels in the Waikiki area. For the cost, it is better than a taxi. . Only about approximately $20 round trip.

I live in Oahu and their pretty much one way to get their which is the highway but if u don’t know your way then probably take a cab or tour vans. H1 town bound is the way u will be heading.

    Hey, Diana!
We have used the shuttle buses from the airport to the hotels in Waikiki. No restrictions about luggage. It was $9.00 per person. Make sure you get the ticket for the pick-up at the end of your visit!

Hope you have a nice trip! ALooooha!

The only other transportation available is THE CAB. right outside the Baggage Claim, they are ready to take you anywhere on the island. I’m NOT going to say it’s cheap. If you want “cheap” then WALK. It’s free.

See if your hotel has a pickup service. Those normally are free of charge if you’re checking into their hotel and don’t have luggage restriction. Other than that, your only other option would be to catch a cab. Cabs are relatively inexpensive to/from the airport to Waikiki since it’s not that far of a drive.

    Happy travels!

    Hi,
Once you get to the Honolulu Airport pick up a couple of “Free” local magazines Oahu Gold and 101 things to do on Oahu. The Oahu Gold will have a lot of tips on transportation to Waikiki, there is a less expensive way using a shuttle service that you’ll find in the Oahu Gold. Or you can take a Taxi, it’s not that far from the Airport to Waikikii.
For ways around the island take the “BUS”, this is public transportation at it’s best, you can catch “The BUS” at any location around Waikik. You can even purchase a 3, 5, or 7 day bus pass that will allow you to ride anytime any place. The “BUS” even stops just outside the Arizona Memorial and you can ride the bus all the way around the island.
