Do People Really Care About the Size of a Laptop?

The question in mobile computing has become, “Does physical size really matter or is it more important to have a computing machine that allows you to fit all your software and save as many movies as will fit on your computer?” Another question may be whether the small sizes are more worthwhile or if the light-weight portability is the key matter. I think the accessibility of different types of computers now lets us genuinely personalize our computers into something that works for us and doesn’t have to be typical for all.

The release of the brand new macbookair by Apple has really given us options with the size and weight and what kind of mobile computer we carry around with us to work. At less than 3 pounds and less than an inch thick, we don’t have to strain our shoulders every time we walk to school. It has a 13 inch display and a normal keyboard. Who wouldn’t be interested? This is the very attribute I have been after.

When I first witnessed the commercial for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to handle laptop coming out of that little envelope, small envelope, I was just amazed. Now, that’s the solution I’ve been looking for. Now it doesn’t have to be a major accomplishment to take my portable computer with me anymore! No extra bag that can weigh likely as much as the portable computer, no more heavy lifting, no longer taking up more room than my suitcase! What a miracle!

The age old question of whether size is important is in front of us now and my answer, when it comes to a tiny computer is a resounding, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter and so does weight. For me and my computer smaller is certainly better.
